• Adult treatments take their toll on children’s bodies. Of the children that survive cancer, 95% will suffer serious long-term health issues due to their treatment. Side effects include: Hearing loss, infertility, organ failure, digestive issues, learning disabilities and secondary cancers.
• Survival rates for kids with cancer are measured using adult benchmarks. Therefore, a child as young as six or seven years old that dies due to the side effects of their treatment, could be considered a “cancer survivor.”
