Personal Statement
Bob’s involvement with pediatric cancer philanthropy began in 1999, when his 13-year old daughter, Sarah, was diagnosed with lymphoma. She had a brief cancer-free period, and then was diagnosed with leukemia. She fought hard, and before her death in September 2002, charged her father with an important mission: to create an endowment in her name and fund it to a million dollars. After reaching that initial $1 million goal, Bob partnered with CKc to direct even more support to innovative cancer treatments. CKc hosts Sarah’s Sporting Clays Against Cancer each year in partnership with the construction industry in memory of Sarah and to build upon her legacy of hope for kids fighting cancer.
