TEAM CKc

MELISSA M. WIGGINS, B.A., L.L.B., L.P.

CO-FOUNDER | EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Melissa Wiggins is a founding member of Cannonball Kids’ cancer Foundation and mum (mom) to Cannon, who was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer when he was 20 months old. During Cannon’s year and a half of treatments, Melissa saw the horrific effects first-hand. This experience motivated her to spend hundreds of hours researching and learning about the enormous lack of funding and research dedicated to pediatric cancer and effects, such as secondary cancers, that occur as a result of antiquated treatments. Melissa and her husband, Michael Wiggins, founded Cannonball Kids' cancer Foundation on June 16, 2014 with a mission to eradicate kids' cancer.

Rich Johnson, AD

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

A strong mission statement is key to every organization, but when it is paired with an equally strong brand and creative vision it can have an even bigger impact and focus on its core mission.

DEBRA BRETT

COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

Debra became aware of Cannon’s story after moving into the same neighborhood as the Wiggins’ family shortly after Cannon’s diagnosis. Her eyes were opened to the horrific world of children’s cancer and she was motivated to get involved.

KELLY KING

EDUCATION DIRECTOR

Kelly King had never been exposed to childhood cancer until her 21-month old son, Nolan, was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma in 2016. Fifteen months later, Nolan passed away. Now, Kelly is a warrior for change. Her passion is to prevent other families from hearing there are “No More Options”. Kelly has a master’s degree in Communication from Florida State University and is accredited in public relations by the Universal Accreditation Board.

MIEKE RICH

DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR / GRANTS MANAGER

Mieke holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Florida State University and an M.S. in Transportation Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She has 20 years of experience as a sales engineer in the medical industry.

ANNIE ALVARO

TEAM EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

Annie was born and raised in Ohio and is a proud alumna of The Ohio State University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication. She met her husband, Chad, in Columbus, and they moved to Orlando in 2003 where Annie worked in commercial real estate for CNL and GE, earning her real estate license along the way. Annie and Chad discovered College Park in 2011, and, after having two beautiful children, Keflin and Julia, she decided to devote her time to her children and causes like CKc.
